Product description
Fantastic, strong yucca that is easy to take care of.
Native to northern Mexico and western Texas. A beautiful Yucca that forms a large crown of blue-grayish green, narrow leaves, supported by a moderately tall, solitary trunk, clothed at least in its upper part in a dense skirt of dead leaves. The leaves can grow to roughly 50cm (1,6 feet) long and are quite stiff. A Yucca rostrata generally grows up to 4 metres (13 feet) tall.
Yucca rostrata is well suited for the Northern-European climate. It requires little attention, as it is hardy to -20°C, as long as it is kept in a dry place and it has had time to properly root. Protect the crown of the plant against moisture. It can handle drought well, making it an easy to maintain plant.
This yucca prefers a sunny but dry location. Keep the soil well drained for optimal results. It is best planted in sandy soil.
The Yucca rostrata is also called 'Beaked yucca'. The translation for rostrata is beaked was given to it due to the beak-like flower buds.
The rostrata grows huge flower buds in spring, which grow above the ball-shaped leaves. The flowers are white coloured. This makes the rostrata an interesting sight to behold, particularly when flowering. It is suited for a pot as well, which works great for balconies.
